February has never been my favourite month. If it weren’t for Valentine’s Day, Family Day and the fact that it is a short month, I’m not sure how I would get through it in one piece. Now that it’s almost over, I’m sharing some of the things that helped put a smile on my face this month.
Here are my top 5 things for February:
Ebates – Get paid to shop
If you like to shop online, then you should definitely sign up for Ebates. It’s free and you earn cash back on online purchases made at over 750 stores when you login to Ebates first. We’re about to embark on some home renovations, so I’ve been making sure to visit Ebates before ordering things like our new kitchen sink and faucet and other supplies from places like Costco, Home Depot, and Amazon. I’m looking forward to receiving my next quarterly cheque – it should be a good one!
Walking Poles – Get outside
I haven’t been as active this winter as I should have been, and it’s been taking a bit of a toll on my physical as well as mental health. One of my favourite activities to do is go for hiking or snowshoeing in the forest, and when I don’t get out in nature often enough I really notice it. I’ve made a pledge to get out at least three times a week, and my Urban Poling walking poles will definitely be coming along. Walking poles are a great way to add an upper body workout to walks and burn extra calories – and they also come in handy to help keep your balance on slippery icy trails.
Life is Good – Spread positivity
I’ve been a fan of the company Life is Good for awhile now. I love their motto, “to spread the power of optimism” and it certainly seems like the world could use a lot more optimism and positivity right about now. Values such as compassion, simplicity and gratitude are embodied in Life is Good t-shirts, mugs, wall art and more. I’ve got my eye on a few of their phone cases.
Seed Catalogues – Dreaming of spring
Since we moved to a rural property a few years ago, I’ve been able to step up my gardening game quite a bit. In addition to expanding our perennial gardens, I’ve got a fair size vegetable garden that I hope to expand this year. One thing I’ve learned that is vital to success with vegetable gardening is to plan ahead. Browsing through all of latest seed catalogues and gardening magazines is the perfect way to spend time on a grey and dreary February day. Vesey’s and the Cottage Gardener are two of my current favourite seed companies.
The Oscars – Who will win big this year?
The 89th Academy Awards ceremony takes place this Sunday. It’s always fun to watch the stars all dressed up in their fanciest outfits and see which actors and films are awarded the coveted golden Oscar statues. There are many great performances nominated this year, and I’m curious to see just how many awards La La Land will walk away with.
