My friends know that I am a bit app-obsessed. I love my iPhone but I love the supporting apps even more. Being that I get asked a lot about what apps I use on my phone, I thought I would share the top 5 apps that I could not live without. These 5 apps I use almost on a daily basis, they make my life just a little bit easier and best of all they’re FREE! Is it a coincidence they all happen to have one word names? I think not. Happy downloading.
For Calendars – COZI
This family calendar/organizer is one of the best apps out there. Cozi makes it super easy for me to schedule the kids extracurricular activities, special events, appointments, etc. I find the interface user friendly and the colours easy on the eyes. Once an update is made, it automatically syncs so that everyone has the most updated calendar. I would be lost without Cozi. Available iOS, Android, Windows
For Shopping – FLIPP
I know we all love to go through the weekly flyers and look for deals and coupons. Flipp has taken this task and digitalized it. The app has all the latest weekly flyers so that you can shop for the best deals near you. Here’s an example of how I recently used Flipp. After the holidays, my daughter was looking for a new case for her iPhone. I pulled up the Flipp app and found that Best Buy had a sale on 2 big name brands – Otter and Case-Mate. She bought the phone case the same day and saved us from having to run around searching for the best price. Available iOS, Android
For Entertainment – NETFLIX
I was already a huge fan of Netflix, but now that you can download episodes of your favourite shows or movies to your device and watch without an internet connection, Netflix simply rocks. Think long road trips, air travel, doctor offices, whenever you anticipate having to wait. I even take iPad to the arena and catch up on shows as I wait for my daughter to finish her hockey practice. Don’t forget the ear buds/ headphone. Available iOS, Android, Windows
For Messaging – SLACK
Slack is probably the “it” app at the moment. Although Slack was created for business teams in mind, this messaging app is a favourite amongst my friends. We use Slack to text within our group in real-time. iMessage is great but not everyone is on iOS. Slack lets you share photos, even documents and files. The search function allows you to go back to find past messages. Available iOS, Android, Windows
For Navigation – WAZE
I have since left Google Maps to jump on the Waze bandwagon. This real-time traffic and navigation app gets its information from a social network of drivers who report everything from traffic, accidents, road closures and police cruisers. The app has been incredibly accurate in telling me to watch out for a car pulled over on the shoulder or a police car up ahead. Available iOS, Android

She is an app obsessed mom who loves everything tech and is (unfortunately) old enough to remember the brick Motorola cell phone and the Commodore computer. Her love for technology stems back to the 10+ years of working for technology based companies.
