The Christmas holidays are one of the busiest travel seasons of the year, and whether you’ll be on a jet plane or hopping in a car for a road trip to celebrate with family, the big question of how to pass time invariably will cross your mind. It doesn’t matter whether you have toddlers, tweens or teens, we all are looking for ways to entertain the time away. In fact, 1 in 5 Canadian parents say one of their main concerns when travelling is keeping their kids entertained.
Travelling with little ones can be challenging, especially during the holidays when you are up to your eyeballs with shopping, wrapping, decorating, cooking, baking and entertaining. You feel guilty for letting them spend too much time on devices but yet you are too exhausted to play another round of “I Spy”. You’ve packed a goodie bag full of portable games, puzzles and books, but they still want to play with you. Sometimes you just need a a break. With the wide variety of engaging shows for kids on Netflix, you don’t have to feel guilty for allowing the kids to turn to their devices. Our family loves Netflix, as it has something for everyone in my family.
Before you head out on your next travel journey, be sure to add Netflix downloads to your list of things to do before you walk out the door. Trust me when I say that this will really help take some of the stress out of travelling for everyone in the family. You just never know when the next toddler meltdown or travel delay will happen. Once the content is downloaded onto your device, you can watch anytime, anywhere without an internet connection.
To access Netflix download, you must have the latest version of the Netflix app on your iOS, Android or Windows 10 device. To download a title, look for the download icon on the description page or you can also browse titles “Available for Download” from the Netflix menu. Tap and the title will download to your device. Downloaded titles will appear under “My Downloads” from the Netflix menu.
It’s really that easy. But just remember to download what you want before you leave for holidays.
Not sure what to download? We’ve got a few ideas.
On a side note, Netflix downloads are not just perfect for travelling. I was recently called upon for jury duty selection. I knew that it would be a long day, so I downloaded a few of my faves to my iPad and I was able to catch up on my shows (Riverdale, Bates Motel) while waiting for my juror number to be called (which after waiting 8.5 hours, it never was).
