LEGO has always been a staple in our house. There have been many toys that have come and gone, but LEGO never gets old. My husband and son have spent hours and days obsessed with placing each brick with precision in their numerous LEGO projects. And so, our favourite brands join forces as Netflix adds two original LEGO series to its streaming service – LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship and LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One.
With the kids out of school enjoying March Break, now is a great time to check out these new LEGO shows streaming now on Netflix. LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship centres around 5 best friends, each with their own talents and interests. Their friendship is strong, but these tweens don’t always see eye to eye. But the girls learn through the power of friendship that they can conquer anything. Tween girls will most certainly relate to this group of friends.
LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One tells the story of six Toa warriors, each with the ability to harness the power of the elements (water, fire, ice, stone, earth, jungle), in their quest to protect an island and its inhabitants from evil. My son was eager to get his hands on his LEGO Bionicle, Gali Uniter of Water. With only 87 pieces, this is a great way for kids to build on their own with minimal help from mom or dad.
Netflix provided us with an amazing March Break kit that included LEGO sets, crafts, puzzles, strawberry and blueberry flavoured popcorn, chocolates and socks. We decided to call over a few of my daughter’s hockey buddies and had a crafting party. The older girls helped the younger ones with LEGO Friends and the crafts. What a great way to spend a rainy afternoon!
Netflix’s vast library of children and family programming is impressive. There’s so much to see, so if you’re looking for suggestions, here are a few other new shows that your tween may also enjoy:
When the kids are tucked away in bed, be sure to catch season 4 of House of Cards. This is one heck of a show!!
What shows on Netflix are your tweens watching?
