If you have an old iPhone that’s collecting dust or if your tween is desperately asking for an upgrade, the recent announcement from Apple Canada regarding the Reuse and Recycling Program will be of interest to you.
The Reuse and Recycling Program offers up to $275 for an older working iPhone. The in-store credit must be used towards the purchase of a new iPhone. Non-functioning iPhones can be recycled by Apple.
Simply bring in your old iPhone to any local Apple store in Canada to get the value, which will be dependent on the model and current condition of the phone. From there, you can apply the in-store credit immediately towards the new iPhone. Apple’s Personal Setup will have your new device up and running by the time you leave the store.
Online recycling through Apple has been available for 3 years but the program first expanded last August in the United States to include in-store reuse and recycling services, which makes it easier for people to discard their devices in an environmentally friendly way.
About Wendy Morelli
Wendy loves her 2 kids and her iPhone, not necessarily always in that order. She is an app obsessed mom who loves everything tech and is (unfortunately) old enough to remember the brick Motorola cell phone and the Commodore computer. Her love for technology stems back to the 10+ years of working for technology based companies. Wendy's alter ego, "AppHipMom" has been featured in Canadian Family, iVillage, Women in Biz, EverythingMom, BlogHer and Savvy Mom.
