Project Mc² is a new Netflix original series for tweens that premiered globally on August 7, 2015. Aimed at kids between 6-13 years old, this live-action series features actress and real life mathematician Danica McKellar as the leader of NOV8 (“Innovate”), the super-secret spy organization led by the world’s smartest operatives. Danica, whose previous acting credits include The Wonder Years, The West Wing and Dancing With the Stars, is also the bestselling author of groundbreaking math books including tween favourite “Math Doesn’t Suck: How to Survive Middle School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking Your Nail” and a strong proponent of math education for girls.
Project Mc² was created to inspire girls to engage in S.T.E.A.M. (science, tech, engineering, art and math) based activities and spy storytelling to prove that Smart is the New Cool. Each of the four core characters in the franchise has a love of all things science and tech and express their interests using everyday experiences to show that S.T.E.A.M. is all around us.
Recently released in Canada, the Project Mc² “geek-chic” toy line further encourages girls to participate in S.T.E.A.M. based activities. (Be sure to enter our giveaway below!)
