Siblings – we can’t live with them, we can’t live without them. As a parent, I’ve had my share of proud moments when my daughter and son got along so famously that I’ve asked myself “are these really my kids?” Then there were the moments I’d rather forget, when they fought like cats and dogs, neither willing to give in first.
Through thick and thin, these siblings are always there for each other (now 15 and 12.5 years old). As I write this and reflect, they makes me realize that being their mom is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. They are two unique individuals but still enjoy the same things like:
Ever since my son’s friend introduced the game to him a few years back, the kids have been busy crafting together. Whether it’s looking out for each other’s backs against creepers in survival mode or building a unique world together in creative mode, it’s a joy to watch them work as a team to find resources and challenge each other’s creativity.
My kids are obsessed with Star Wars. Having seen all the films, including The Force Awakens umpteen times, they can spend hours chatting about theories and spoilers with one another.
This is about the only meal they both agree on. You can say we eat pasta a lot at our house.
Although my son no longer plays, it was he who got my daughter interested in the sport. After all the hours of watching him at games and practices, she thought it looked like fun and has never looked back.
Both kids love Netflix. They don’t watch much on cable tv but they like the convenience of watching what they like when they like. Being that our package allows for up to 2 devices streaming at once, this is a godsend.
When it comes to family movie nights, we love that Netflix has a wide variety of shows to choose from. But my kids can’t always agree on the feature presentation. Thank goodness Netflix has a solution! The Netflix Siblings Playlists will satisfy even the most hard to please siblings.
A Tale of Two Distant Ages Playlist
This playlist will appeal to the 5-year-old AND 14-year-old in the family.
Sugar and Spice Playlist
This one’s for the sassy and sweet personalities in your household.
“Meet in the Middle” Playlist
When the kids can’t agree on a genre, this playlist’s got you covered from comedy to action.
If your family still can’t decide on what to watch, have some fun with it and let Netflix’s fortune teller make the decision for you. Or use this handy blank template to create your own customized version.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Pick a colour on the top four flaps and spell out the letters (e.g. B-L-U-E) while alternating a pinching and pulling motion with the teller to reveal a set of four numbers.
- Pick a number and move the fortune teller the corresponding number of times, revealing a second set of four numbers.
- Choose a genre and open the flap to reveal what’s up next on Netflix!
Disclosure: As a member of Netflix Canada’s Stream Team, I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with Netflix. As always, all opinions are my own.
