Like many parents, I often struggle with getting my kids to appreciate and enjoy healthy meals and foods. With so many processed foods tempting them everywhere we go, I think it’s really important to help our kids learn how good nutritious food can taste. And if they can learn to make some healthy snacks and meals themselves, then that’s even better!
Recently, Petits Chefs Academy invited Tweenhood to bring our kids out to experience a cooking class at their location in Vaughan. We were happy to do so, as we love Petits Chefs Academy’s focus on teaching kids about healthy nutritional cooking.
Cooking classes for kids at Petits Chefs Academy are small, hands-on experiences, that teach kids about nutrition and healthy ingredients in a fun way. The day our kids attended, a modified cinnamon bun recipe was on the menu. Using ingredient substitutions such as coconut oil and whole wheat flour, these cinnamon buns were delicious and fun for the kids to make, but much less of a nutrition disaster than cinnamon buns you would buy at the grocery store or coffee shop.
Denise has kindly given us permission to share the recipe for the mini cinnamon buns our kids made in their class with our readers. With the kids now back at school we’re thinking these would be a delicious breakfast treat before school, or a yummy snack to take to school.
