It was so incredible to see first hand the power of collaboration. Our first Tween Swap, Shop & Spa event with Glama Gal Tween Spa and Style Crush had everything tweens and moms would want under one roof – shopping, manicures, prizes and even a selfie station!
Glama Gal Tween Spa in Unionville was the perfect setting for our first Tween Swap, Shop & Spa event. The spa is located in historic and charming Unionville inside a two-story barn. The rustic look of the barn is awesome in itself, but it’s the glamour and beauty inside that sets this tween spa apart from the rest. The interior is vibrant, elegant, girly, positive and glamalicious pink. You can’t help but to feel happy as soon as you step foot inside. Spa owner Elizabeth Mensher and her staff offered mini manicures, which was a perfect way to unwind and end a busy day.
The evening’s shopping was provided by Style Crush, who brought their inventory of gently used tween/teen clothing for us die-hard shoppers. Popular brands like Gap, Abercrombie, Lululemon, Iviva, Triple Flip, Roxy and Pink in sizes 8-16 lined the racks selling for no more than $20, some still with original tags attached (I won’t judge, been there myself).
Style Crush owners Andrea and Julie, having tweens themselves, know the brands and styles kids want to wear, which is why they are particular in what they will buy. The clothes on the racks looked brand new to me and that is why no one left empty handed. The deals were just that good.
Many girls brought clothes they have outgrown to sell to Style Crush. Style Crush offered cash or a top-up if taken as a store credit. Many girls took advantage of the top-up and in the end, learned a valuable lesson in money management. The girls know how much a similar new item sells for and they couldn’t believe the deals they got. My daughter got a pair of Roxy denim shorts for $12 and a brand new (tags still attached) Brandy Melville-like t-shirt for $5. Style Crush bought a few of our items, so we had a $9 store credit. So the entire outfit cost all of $8. Now that’s what I call a deal!
For our part, we set up a selfie station thanks to the help of a fabulous event planner and friend Julie at Stardust Events. Girls and their moms reflected on the question “What Makes You Beautiful” and posted their responses on the glam mirror. Here are a few of their reflections:
“Make people laugh”.
“The love of my family”.
“My smile and my personality”.
“My desire to give to others”.
It was a fabulous evening. We were proud our girls got to see the end result of all the hard work we all put in to make it happen. Many thanks to our partners Glama Gals Tween Spa and Style Crush for taking an idea and running away with it. We look forward to doing it all again!
