Is your summer already all planned out, or are you still looking for activities to keep your kids busy this summer?
If you are looking for something educational and fun for your tween, we think the summer day camp program offered at Petits Chefs Academy sounds like a great option.
Petits Chefs Academy is an educational cooking school in Vaughan designed specifically for kids, to teach them how to cook healthy, nutritional food in a fun, safe and interactive environment. Petits Chefs offers a fun day camp program throughout the summer to help teach the important life skill of cooking and encourage healthy eating.
The Petits Chefs We Are Cooking and Baking Camp is a fun, hands-on cooking experience for boys and girls ages 6-15 years old. It includes a daily lunch and snack recipe. As Petits Chefs Academy owner Denise K. Livotti states “the kids eat what they make – it’s that simple. It’s really about teaching the next generation skills for a lifetime!”
Some of the things kids will learn at this camp include:
- how to cook using fresh, local ingredients
- how to read recipes and how to make recipes more nutritionally sound
- how to read nutrition labels and ingredients lists
- how to create their own recipes
- kitchen safety and emergency preparedness
Here’s a sample of the planned menu from the first week of camp:
LUNCH: Canadian bacon and vegetable sandwich on home made buns SNACK: Apple Crisp
LUNCH: Strawberry spinach salad with grilled chicken SNACK: Baked Beaver Tails
LUNCH: Pacific Grilled Salmon with Coleslaw SNACK: Strawberry Crisp
LUNCH: Personal Hawaiian Pizza SNACK: Vegetable whole wheat couscous
Kids not only will be stirring up creativity in the kitchen but they’ll have outdoor play, with all sorts of games like fun water games, physical activity, watermelon eating contests, relays, arts and crafts and more. There will also be yoga every Thursday, taught by a certified kids Yoga Instructor and special guest speakers on a range of health and safety topics.
