Do you like the idea of making your own gifts – or do you have a tween that loves DIY projects? Well check out these quick and easy DIY gift ideas using essential oils!
Recently, Well.ca sent me an assortment of essential oils to try out some projects from their Essential Oils Lookbook.
My daughter and I had lots of fun trying out of few of the DIY ‘recipes’ from the Lookbook. Each DIY project uses one or more essential oils, like peppermint, vanilla or jojoba oil, along with a few other simple ingredients (many of which you probably already have at home) such as coconut oil, brown sugar, coffee or honey.
These projects are very quick and easy (seriously!) and they make wonderful gifts for teachers, coaches, friends or relatives. You can do the projects with your kids, or your tween may decide that they want to do some on their own or with friends. Many of these DIY projects would also be a perfect activity for a sleepover with friends.
Here’s one of the DIY gift ideas we made:
DIY Vanilla Latte Body Scrub
1 cup of fresh ground coffee
1/2 cup of coconut oil
1/2 cup of brown sugar
12 drops of vanilla oil
Mix all of the ingredients together in a large bowl. Store in a sealable container at room temperature and enjoy!
See what I mean – it’s E-A-S-Y!!
Here’s the finished product, all ready to be packaged up.
We also made:
DIY Mint Chocolate Body Butter, using cocoa butter, jojoba oil, vanilla oil and peppermint oil. This one was probably our favourite – this body butter smells so good and it leaves your skin incredibly soft and silky.

Acne Fighting Mask, made with baking soda, tea tree oil, lemon juice and water.
