Tweenhood started because of our shared frustration with the lack of sites devoted specifically to raising kids that have moved passed the baby and toddler phase. We noticed that many of our friends had similar issues and questions and we thought that it would be great to build a site that could be a resource to parents of tweens to share stories and experiences.
How fitting that the two of us first met at a social media event for the launch of a teen decor line in Canada. We continued to build a friendship through Twitter and attending several events together over the past few years and now are thrilled to partner together on this venture.
While we are both moms of tweens/teens, we certainly don’t claim to be experts on everything about tweens. Along with our team of contributors, we hope to generate discussion, share ideas and support each other as we parent through the tween years.
Wendy loves her 2 kids and her iPhone, not necessarily always in that order. She is an app obsessed mom who loves everything tech and is (unfortunately) old enough to remember the brick Motorola cell phone and the Commodore computer. Her love for technology stems back to the 10+ years of working for technology based companies. Wendy’s alter ego, “AppHipMom” writes about her favourite apps with articles featured in iVillage, Women in Biz, EverythingMom and Savvy Mom.
Kathy is a freelance writer and blogger who gave up her career as a financial advisor when her son was diagnosed with autism at age 3, and has no regrets. With a family consisting of one husband, two teenage kids and three dogs (plus a horse!) life is always busy. Gardening and walks in the forest are her happy places. When it comes to parenting, Kathy truly believes there is strength in numbers and knows that sharing stories and strategies with other parents has helped keep her sane (so far!)
We hope you’ll join us and our amazing group of Tweenhood contributors on our journey through the wild ride of raising tweens!
